2020 was an exacting year for the Malaysian Palm Oil industry, as it grappled with the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. The impact was seen in the global demand for, and price of, palm oil over the first half of the year. The second half brought some respite as strict lockdowns and movement control orders (MCO) were relaxed, enabling the reopening of the economic sector in many countries. Malaysia has since formulated strategies to stimulate domestic recovery.
